At Tipton Ford, April 17th, National Mustang Day, is one of our favorite holidays. This year, National Mustang Day marked the 55th anniversary of the Mustang and the fourth consecutive year that the Mustang has been deemed the best-selling sports coupe in the world.
According to data collected by the IHS Markit, the Mustang sold 113,066 cars in 2018, with sales worldwide from Australia to South America. Last year, the iconic sports car was available for sale in 146 different countries. Over the past four years, since 2015, Ford has sold over 500,000 sixth-generation Mustangs across the globe.
Not only did April 2019 mark the fourth year in a row that the Mustang has been the best-selling sports coupe in the world, it also marked its fourth year as the best-selling sports car in the United States. Ford sold 75,842 Mustangs in the states in 2018
The excellent sales over the past year have increased the market share of the Mustang in its sports car segment by 15.4 percent. This impressive success is in part thanks to the Mustang Bullitt. The iconic edition of the pony car has been a global success, and Ford has sold 25 percent more of this model than expected.
