Pickup trucks have long been the epitome of hard work. However, more and more families across the country are choosing trucks as their family vehicles. That’s why Ford engineers incorporated innovative features to make the Ranger especially great for families.
One of these features, called Belt Monitor, is designed to let the driver know how many back-seat passengers are bucked. It also gives you a warning if any seats are unbuckled and shows which seat it was. This can be helpful for parents of young children who might not fully understand the importance of keeping their seatbelts buckled.
Ford electrical engineer Paul Kula designed this technology. He said to the Detroit Free Press, “I have been working on this for approximately four to five years. We have had customer feedback with regards to understanding who is buckled up. Children like to play with things, and they realize how to unbuckle their seat belts quite early.”
In addition to the Belt Monitor feature, the Ranger is available with a spacious Crew Cab that makes it easy to fit child car seats into the backseat. For extra family safety, all Ranger models include forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking.
