of sunny days spent at the beach. Here in Texas, we have a wide variety of
beaches to choose from. Whether you want to sunbathe, or perhaps spend the day
at the beach with your Ford, here are a few local beaches near Brownsville we at
Tipton Ford suggest visiting.
Boca Chica Beach
Boca Chica Beach is located right between Boca Chica State Park and Brazos Island State Park. If you want to drive here, you will need a Texas OHV decal, which costs $8. This beach offers public ATV riding, swimming, surfing, fishing, and even primitive camping.
Andy Bowie Beach Park
Andy Bowie Beach Park has plenty of room for lounging, and an entire beach of hard-packed sand to relax on. It’s an ideal spot for playing beach games or for a stroll through the waves. Food is available onsite, but packing your own is also an option.
Isla Blanca Park Beach
Isla Balance Park Beach has more of a touristy vibe, but it’s still a great place to visit. Here, you can go parasailing or jet skiing. Be sure to bring your fishing gear to fully appreciate the long jetty.

Thanks to Brownsville’s location in southern Texas by the Gulf of Mexico, we
can enjoy summer-like temperatures all year long. While winter’s punishing cold
is exacted on most of the United States, Brownsville residents enjoy sunshine
and average temperatures in the 70s.
Brownsville, TX, is a great place to enjoy activities with the whole family. We
love to visit Boca Chica State Park beach, the Gladys Porter Zoo, and the Children’s
Museum of Brownsville with our families.
Community Events: If the dozens of local attractions aren’t enough, Brownsville is also home to several annual community events. Charro Days is one such example. This multi-cultural event held in October is a four-day fiesta with several parades, a ball, and a 5K run.

Harlingen, Texas is located just 30 miles from the Gulf of Mexico. It’s a beautiful place to live, and it’s packed with culture, history, and things to do and see. Here are some of our favorite things to do in Harlingen.
Jima Memorial & Museum
This museum honors the Battle of Iwo Jima, fought between the U.S. Marines and the Imperial Army of Japan in 1945. Pay what you can as a donation to step inside the museum and watch the educational video, and then check out the large sculpture that served as the original model for the statue now located in Arlington Cemetery in Virginia.
Ramsey Nature Park
If you’re visiting Harlingen on a nice day, you can’t miss the Hugh Ramsey Nature Park. This beautiful sanctuary is made up of 55 acres of woods, and features walking trails, wildlife viewing, and birdwatching.
Harlingen is home to one of nine sites located in the Rio Grande Valley that make up the World Birding Center. At the Harlingen Arroyo Colorado location, you can expect to see Olive Sparrows, Long-billed Thrashers, Groove-billed Ani, and the endangered Red-crowned Parrots.
