Ford Kicks Off “Texas Is Family” Event with Vehicle Donations

Nine months ago, Hurricane Harvey hit Texas, and for some, that wound is still healing. Fortunately, Ford is committed to assisting relief efforts in Texas. The company hosted the Texas Is Family event in mid-May to bring together local nonprofits in the area, partnered with local organizations, and donated vehicles to other volunteers.

Ford kicked off the Texas Is Family event by donating 38 Ford vehicles to eight different organizations in the state, allowing these organizations — including big names such as the Houston Food Bank, Salvation Army, and American Red Cross — to continue providing relief from the destruction left behind by Hurricane Harvey. These vehicle donations are part of a commitment Ford made in September to provide up to $3.5 million in aid to the victims of the hurricane.

Ford Kicks Off “Texas Is Family” Event The Texas Is Family event also offered a special assistance package to more than 8,000 customers whose vehicles were either lost or destroyed during the hurricane, allowing them to purchase new cars on a Ford employee discount and setting up a payment deferral plan. Ford, with its long history of disaster relief efforts and volunteer work, continues to this day to demonstrate a commitment to the communities it serves.

We at Tipton Ford are proud to be part of a company that is committed to relief efforts and community support.

Fuel Saving Tips

Do you want to get the most out of each tank of gas? Of course you do! And with these fuel saving tips, you can start increasing your car’s fuel efficiency today.

Lighten the Load

Not only can a cluttered car feel and look unpleasant, but it can also decrease gas mileage. For every extra pound your car has to carry it must work a little harder to accelerate, using more gas than necessary. Clean your car out to improve gas mileage today.

Stay Cool the Right Way

When you’re driving in the summer, you’ve have to stay cool. The best way to do this on the highways is with the air conditioner, which uses less fuel than would be spent with the windows down at high speeds. With low-speed driving, however, driving with the windows down is the more efficient option.

Slow Down

Sure, driving fast can save you time but it will not save you gas. Driving the speed limit is not only safer, but it’s also a great way to save on fuel.

Inflate the Tires

When tires are under-inflated, they’ll need more effort to roll which means more fuel waste. Check the tire pressure on your vehicle’s tires regularly to get the most efficiency.

With these fuel saving tips, you can start increasing your car’s fuel efficiency today.

2019 Ford Mustang Bullitt

Inspired by the 1968 Mustang GT fastback featured in the movie Bullitt starring Steve McQueen, the new Mustang Bullitt will be offered on the GT Premium trim and will feature the Performance Package, bringing together sleek styling, luxurious features, and serious power.

New Mustang Bullitt Edition Commemorates Famous Car Chase

The 1968 movie Bullitt is best known for its epic 10-minute-long car chase scene in which police detective Frank Bullitt drives his Mustang GT through the streets of San Francisco in pursuit of criminals behind the wheel of a Dodge Charger R/T. Recently, Ford debuted the new Mustang Bullitt Edition for the 2019 model in honor of the car chase scene’s 50th anniversary.

Mustang Bullitt Edition

Heavily inspired by the film model’s original design, the Ford Mustang Bullitt Edition has been stripped of all its badges and the grille. Chrome accents and 19-inch wheels come with the model, and the color palette only includes two colors — black and Highland Green, the shade of Bullitt’s vehicle in the movie.

On the inside, modern technology and comfort mix with styling cues from the past, and the Mustang Bullitt’s 5.0-liter V8 has been returned to deliver 475 horsepower for more performance thrills.

The 50th anniversary came with perfect timing, as the film’s original model— long thought lost and destroyed somewhere in Mexico — was rediscovered and inherited by current owner Sean Kiernan only four years ago.

The new 2019 Mustang Bullitt Edition will be rolling out across dealerships this summer, so stay tuned for more news and a chance to test drive it here at Tipton Ford.
